Producing Playful Patterns

Last week I promised to provide you with information on how to make your own cross stitching patterns, so I suppose you can deduct what this weeks post is about. :)

First off I would like to acknowledge the fact that I used the free resources provided by other websites in order to create my patterns and I will provide those links for you to use also.

So, in order to make my pattern I needed graph paper. When you cross stitch you start in the center of the pattern and work your way out. The graph paper therefore needs to be marked in the center of the grid.

The following website provides much information on cross stitching in general as well as (you guessed it) graph paper.
I used the graph for the 14-count graph paper but the size you use will depend entirely on the Aida cloth you will be using.

Note also that this website has some cool designs and alphabet patterns for free so check it out if you want to feel inspired.

Sweet as can Pea

I apologise for the long delay, I suddenly became rather busy and lazy simultaneously. Anyway I finally present to you the final pattern in my cross stitching set; the Sweet Pea.

This is such a cute design, and whilst it was the hardest of the three, it is still a basic pattern and not too hard to follow.

Here is the pattern:

A Blossomy Day

Moving along with my cross stitching posts, today I will show you my Blossom cross stitching.

This pattern was slightly more difficult than the Daisy pattern but very pretty. The blossoms are cherry blossoms and naturally you could change the text if you so desired, or even the colour.

Daisy Cross Stitching

I seriously love cross stitching! It is such a great way to relax and to focus yourself on one thing so that your mind can be quite at ease to think freely on another.

Anyway at the end of last year I had this great desire to do some cross stitching so when I finally convinced myself to actually buy the Aida cloth I began designing three very cute floral designs.

I have three sisters so naturally I decided to make one for each of their birthdays to incorporate the flower that Mum referred to each of them as before their birth.

I will post them successively over the next week or so.

The first one I made was based on Daisies. Below is the pattern I made/used so feel free to use it as well.

NB- you can use any colour you want for your flower, I only used blue on the pattern so it stands out.
